Eric Dick was born on 26 August 1964 in Vendée. Son of a movie owner and a school teacher.
In the 1980s, he entered the service of the cinemas of the armies where he learned the trades of the cinema at the ECPAD, then it is found at the Military school of St Cyr in the audio-visual cell.
